Week 3 information 8/31 -9/3:

We had a great week in Math.  We compared numbers up to 100, wrote number words to 100 and used place value blocks tens and ones to make numbers to 100. This week we also looked and wrote about vertical, horizontal and diagonal. We used these words to navigate the patterns on a hundreds chart. 

Here is a list of homework for this week.  We will only have IXL homework Monday through Wednesday due to Labor Day Weekend.  The homework that goes home is review and practice students should be able to complete the assignments with minimal parent help.  Students should not be working on math homework for fore that 15 minutes.  Here is a list of homework for this week:

Monday: A.6
Tuesday: A.7
Wednesday: M.1
Thursday: No Homework

News from Mrs. Rowlett's Reading Class

We had a great week in our Language arts class.  We continued to build stamina in read to self and writing.  The second graders got new spiral notebooks for their journals and wrote in them during our writing Daily 5 rotation.  We learned all about 5 star sentences.  We also introduced read with someone and the students enjoyed sharing great books with a friend. 

This week we will continue with our Daily 5 rotations, Listen to reading will be introduced and soon to follow will be work on words.  Your child will be bringing home a book to read in their binders this book is from our Strategy reading groups or book club.  Please make sure to include this book in their 20 minutes of reading each night.

CONGRATULATIONS!

I am so PROUD to share that between the 1st and 2nd grade math students, we had a total of 20 PRACTICE HOURS!  Way to go and ROCK those math skills!
