We had a great week in Math. We compared numbers up to 100, wrote number words to 100 and used place value blocks tens and ones to make numbers to 100. This week we also looked and wrote about vertical, horizontal and diagonal. We used these words to navigate the patterns on a hundreds chart.
Here is a list of homework for this week. We will only have IXL homework Monday through Wednesday due to Labor Day Weekend. The homework that goes home is review and practice students should be able to complete the assignments with minimal parent help. Students should not be working on math homework for fore that 15 minutes. Here is a list of homework for this week:
Monday: A.6
Tuesday: A.7

Reading with Mrs. Rowlett Week of 8/24 -8/27
Hello 2nd Grade Families
We had a fabulous first week of school! I enjoyed working with second graders. This last week in reading the 2nd graders worked on reviewing the Secret Phonic Stories by looking at the secrets in our names. We also began Daily 5 and built stamina with read to self. The 2nd graders did a great job and were able to read for 10+ minutes. The 2nd Daily 5 component that was introduced was Work on Writing. Each student has their own journal to write in.
This week we will continue to look at our names for our Secret Story review, build stamina in Read to self and Work on Writing, and introduce Read with Someone. Students will begin to choose the Daily 5 component they would like to work on.
Homework for this week should include 20 minutes of reading a book of your child's choice. They may also borrow books from our class or Ms. Garcia's class. We will begin guided reading groups next week and will send books home then. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me my email is jrowlett@oasisacademyfallon.us.
Looking forward to another great week!

Dear 2nd Grade Families,
Tomorrow is the Big Day, the first day of 2nd grade! I am VERY excited and can't wait for the day to start. I wanted to let you know that tomorrow your child will need two snacks. Students will eat their 1st snack during morning recess at 9:35 and due to the longer day we will also have an afternoon snack. Since our classroom is designated as a FOOD free classroom due to severe allergies, we will either eat in the lunchroom or outside.
Please get your kiddos to bed early tonight! The first few weeks are long and tiring due to the adjustment of 2 extra hours per day. We will ALL be exhausted!
Looking forward to the first day,
Miss Garcia
